Project Goals
Project goal, objectives and activities

The decade of project implementation has aimed at the specific objective that communities and local authorities manage natural resources in a sustainable manner that mitigates environmental degradation due to deforestation and climate change through a compelling demonstrative approach within communities local.

To achieve its objectives of improving conservation practices and sustainable use of natural resources, emphasis was placed on simultaneous actions with three main axes: governance, environmental protection, and a financing mechanism. Green. The operational approach developed consisted of rebasing local dynamics on Local Environmental Groups (LEG) in the villages and Communal Environmental Groups (GEC) in each of the three municipalities of intervention.

Based on pre-existing dynamics (traditional organizations of hunters and customary chiefdom) GELs and GECs enable social and community remobilization for more sustainable use of natural resources in the areas. Particular emphasis was placed on gender & leadership aimed at improving the involvement of young people and women and the use of communication spaces adapted to different groups in favor of good citizenship and environmental protection.

At the end of the project, the Participatory Environmental Governance (PEG) model was shared with other NGOs & associations working in the field of the environment and good governance.
